Colouratura is a large, beautiful former church featuring Paintings, Photography, Basketry, Pottery, and Sculpture from artists throughout Cape Breton Island. It is home to over 25 Artists mostly from Cape Breton Island who use a wide variety of mediums. “Colouratura” has several meanings. The word is originally Italian, literally meaning “colouring” and derives from the Latin word “color”. It also refers to a soprano’s voice having that special quality that makes it stand out from the rest. Colouratura Fine Art Gallery combines art with music, offering special events and concerts as well.
